Library Membership

Membership is free to all residents living permanently or owning property in the Library’s service area.

To apply for your FREE library card, please bring personal identification and proof of address to any branch of the Okanagan Regional Library.



When applying for a membership, adult residents must present either a valid BC Driver’s license or BC Identification Card (BC ID), with a current address.

If you have neither of these then you must present 2 pieces of ID, one of which needs to have your current address.

Examples of acceptable identification are:

  • Car registration / insurance
  • Student card/School/University/College ID
  • Band membership card
  • Government agency document (i.e. Passport or Immigration papers)
  • Voter identification card
  • Government issued health or hospital card
  • Current tax notification bill
  • Copy of a utility bill (i.e. Fortis, Telus, Shaw) in paper or digital format
  • Official rent receipt
  • Letter at that address, in that person’s name (cancelled by Canada Post)



BC OneCard

Visitors who have a card from another BC public library may borrow material from the Okanagan Regional Library.

Visitors must provide:

  • Either a home library card or a BC OneCard issued by another library
  • Personal identification showing their home address.

Library material borrowed on a BC OneCard may be returned to any public library in British Columbia.  Returned items are shipped back to the lending library with no charge, but customers are responsible for any late fees.
